Ken Chu of F4 makes his period drama debut in the highly anticipated wuxia series Chu Liu Xiang Chuan Qi (”The Legend of Chu Liu Xiang”). Dashing, carefree, and chivalrous swordsman Chu Liu Xiang has previously been portrayed by stars like Adam Cheng, Michael Miu, Ti Lung, and Richie Jen, and this time Ken Chu brings his own unique charisma to the role. In comparison to previous depictions of Chu Liu Xiang, the storied hero walks closer to earth in this drama, painting a more realistic character who feels, falters, and at times fails, but always stays true to his heart and principles. Chu Liu Xiang Chuan Qi co-stars idol drama heartthrob Kingone Wang (Why Why Love), Mainland starlet Hu Jing, and Hong Kong television star Benny Chan Ho Man (Gods of Honour). Featuring a talented cast, high-caliber special effects, and location shooting in Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Hengdian, Chu Liu Xiang Chuan Qi sets a new high standard for fusion period dramas.
Mystical Water Palace’s wide-reaching power has raised the ire of the martial arts world, and the eight great sects have decided to come together to storm the mysterious sect’s stronghold. Suspicious of the motives of the eight great sects, Chu Liu Xiang chooses to not participate, much to the frustration of Tian’er. Along with Tiehua (Benny Chan), Tian’er decides to pose as Chu Liu Xiang and join this grand jianghu event, but her bumbling reveals her identity and lands her in prison. Chu Liu Xiang has little choice but to go rescue her, getting pulled into the dangerous conspiracy surrounding the storming of Mystical Water Palace.

I was like “wtf”!! when I saw that a boyband boy was going to act as the notorious womaniser Chu Liu Xiang! How I screamed and raged at such a bad choice.
When I got my hands on the series I had to eat my own words because although Ken was a very unlikely candidate for CLX. he brought his own cheeky lazy air to his character and made it likeable. The one who really stole the whole show is the Korean actress Chu Ja-Hyun who made the cameras love her everytime she appears onscreen. She’s a beautiful and great actress. Her meaty acting and role as the villianess, Shi Guan Yin, who fell in love with CLX made this show above average.
